Pithy indeed, as Bill O'Reilly would say! Some scattered thoughts in response, if I may. What energy, what labor and toil we fallen men will go to in order to maintain our independence from God! We can posit such complicated systems for existence and meaning to deny what is right in front of our faces. As Dennis Prager is fond of saying, "If there is no God, morality is merely a matter of opinion." Indeed, who cares? Mother Teresa's actions are as valid as Stalin's or Hitler's.

Whatever anyone may say, deep down we all act as if there are "shoulds" and "ought to's", as Lewis discusses in Mere Christianity. Regardless of our futile imaginings and philosophizing, things won't remain neutral; whoever has the most power will determine what will be: Might makes right!

Great article!
